![]() Phyllis was born in Medford, Massachusetts, in a two story clapboard house with cellar and a large garden, where there were many exotic fruit trees, an abundance of flowers and fresh vegetables. An honours student at Medford High School where during her years there was selected to attend the intensive summer long classes at the Boston Museum of Fine Arts School. She won a scholarship to the Massachusetts College of Art and subsequently attended Tufts University, where she took her Masters Degree. It was rather as a teacher than as a painter that she first came to Ireland in 1963. There Phyllis found that the every changing properties of light and colour, and the swiftly varying moods of the sky, land and sea were a relation to her. Phyllis has had 8 solo exhibitions in Combridge Fine Art. In addition she has contributed to untold Group Exhibitions including The Royal Hibernian Academy, The Royal Ulster Academy, The Royal Society of Marine Artists, and The Royal Institute of Painters in Watercolour. |
