![]() Fergal was born in Dublin, studied art at the National College of Art & Design under Sean Keating, Maurice McGonical and George Collie. He was awarded first prize by the R.D.S. in their National Art Competition. He has exhibited regularly at the Royal Hibernian Academy since 1964 and in the Oireachtas Annual Exhibition. He was commissioned by the Irish Government to design a stamp for the Bicentenary of the Royal College of Surgeons in 1984. Fergal has been exhibiting his paintings in Combridges since 1988. Fergal has written a book on Ashford Castle which is in its second edition and over 100,000 copies have been sold. Most of the subject matter and the inspiration for his work comes from Galway and Mayo, particularly the coast of Connemara. |
